Berlin GenAu!! - just the highlights I think...

To start off...a holiday snap - on the way over on the aeroplane...

Crikey, it has taken a little while to get this blog together after Berlin...mainly because it was hard to know where to start. I am struggling now to remember what was what and where was visited and in what order, but not to worry...
We were in Berlin!  Staying in an awesome hostel ...The Grand Hostel - A lovely place, lovely people, amazing bedroom with the biggest lamp-shade I have ever seen.

What an awesome, exciting, diverse and photographable place Berlin is.  Amazing public transport with regular U-Bahns, S-Bahns, trams and perfectly on time buses (weird how excited I get about this element.)
Great nightlife, from the taster we had... Clever recycling system (again maybe a little weird how much love I have for the recycling), the readily available and affordable beer,

not to mention the totally delicious food and all that architecture to look at too, very nice.

East side gallery - a mile-long stretch of the Berlin Wall covered in the art work of some Berliners expressing their sentiments towards the east/west divide.  ( I was kicking myself for not paying better attention at school in those pesky history lessons, LL - ignorant fool.)

Anyway, it  was a colourful reminder of Berlin's heavy historical burden.

A fairly large proportion of time was spent sitting around in cafes whilst we were there, the favourite choice being Hubertus lounge in Kreuzberg, what a gem of a place, pretty much empty during the day, completely delicious drinks, coffee and cocktails wise- yum,

Lovely atmosphere by day, by night the place was packed and there was even a secret room downstairs, you have to go there yourself to find the sneakily hidden entrance to this room :)

Yum! Berliner Kindl with some kind of fruity, sweet syrupy thing - tasty on a sunny eve,

We visited an awesome flea market on Sunday afternoon, impossible to leave there without a few cheeky purchases,

for instance - check out this lady's website for some wicked jewellary/accessories - info@schmuckzeug.com
her stall was my favourite one.

We also wondered around a Turkish Market where there was an abundance of yummy bread, olives, and fresh vegetables...
perfect to create an epic picnic with...And we did.  Delicious.

I could go on all day about my week in Berlin, but for now I think that will do...
