Belgium 2010 - Cold but Brilliant...

The ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge, Belgium is a splendid invention.
You can get an overnight crossing including a delicious (all you can eat style) dinner followed (the next morning) by an even more delicious full English Breakfast. Yum.  Strongly recommend doing it.  Top notch...

Well off we were going - to Belgium for the annual SHS band trip.
This one time...at band camp - is fitting.
Travelling with 50 (ish) utterly wild and uncontrollable teenage girls
Lego Lucy = Scared! :)
Much fun was had by all on the crossing over, after a hearty meal we played some bingo and drank some (medicinal) Gin & Tonic.

A near win...

Upon arrival in Belgium - A nice group walk by the sea-front.  It was very cold indeed.

Drink of the week goes to Kriek - It is delicious.  You must drink this when in Belgium, Cherry beer.  Amazing.

Exploring

The absolute find of the week was a sweet shop in Brugge called the Candy Shop.  Lego Lucy's Heaven would probably look similar.  I have visited many sweet shops.  I am an expert sweet eater and this particular shop was just extraordinary.  It was absolutely necessary to purchase a massive sack of sweets so that I could sample everything on offer.  At this point I was perfectly happy to spend the best part of 10 Euros on sweets.  (Can When in Rome apply here?  Yeh.)

Best Ever Pick & Mix

So Brugge was the place to be for sweetshop experts (such as myself.)

Anyway...Brugge really is a lovely place and only a 20 minute bus journey from the ferry port at Zeebrugge.  There are some great little bars and obviously - the best sweet shop in the world.

A strange signpost

So after a week in Belgium (and a day in Lille, France) It was time to get the overnight ferry back to Hull.
On the ferry...I think they are imagining what it would be like to have their own Lego Lucy's

Bye bye!
Awesome week in Belgium.  Must go back.  Soon.  I need to! To get another pick & mix.
